Privacy Policy

Grocery App is operated by Light Up the Dark LLC ("we", "us", or "our"). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Information We Collect

Phone number — used to verify your identity via a one-time SMS code. We do not store passwords.
Name — provided when you first sign in, displayed to family members.
Grocery lists and items — the lists, items, and notes you create in the app.
Family data — family names, membership roles, and helper information.
Item requests — requests submitted by helpers and responses from list owners.
Profile photo — optionally uploaded; stored securely in the cloud.
Push notification token — collected if you enable push notifications, used only to deliver notifications to your device.

How We Use Your Information

To provide and operate the app's features — lists, family sharing, helper requests, and the weekly leaderboard.
To send SMS verification codes when you sign in (via Twilio).
To send push notifications about your lists and requests, if you have enabled them.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the app:

Twilio — sends SMS verification codes. Your phone number is transmitted to Twilio for this purpose. See Twilio's Privacy Policy.
Google Firebase — used for push notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging) and profile photo storage (Firebase Storage). See Firebase's Privacy Policy.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Your grocery list and family data is shared only with other members of families you have joined within the app. We do not share your data with third parties except as described above (Twilio for SMS, Firebase for notifications and storage) or as required by law.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you would like your data deleted, please contact us and we will remove your account and associated data.

Children's Privacy

Grocery App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
